Games you can play in a WhoDey chat
Talking to someone new is easier with something to do. In WhoDey you can start a game right inside a chat: Ludo, Ayo, Nigerian Drafts, a quick Naija quiz and more. The other person accepts, you take turns, and the chat carries on around it.
How do I play a game on WhoDey?
Open a chat with someone, tap the game bar above the message box, pick a game and send the challenge. When they accept, you take turns in the same chat. You can also practise by challenging WhoDey itself from the WhoDey team chat.
- Games are played with people you already have a chat with: a match, an accepted request, or someone from a plan.
- Each game has its rules one tap away, and a result card at the end. Ask for a rematch from the card.
- The WhoDey team can pause a game for everyone while they fix or improve it, so the list can change.
Which games are there?
Why games in a social app?
A first chat with a stranger often stalls after “how far?”. A game gives you something to do and something to talk about, and you learn a lot about a person from how they play Ayo or how they take losing at Ludo. It also works for friends: a quick quiz is a better excuse to message than “hi, long time”.
Can I play Ayo and Nigerian Drafts online with the real rules?
Yes. Ayo Olopon follows the common Yoruba rules: twelve holes, four seeds each, sowing counter-clockwise, capturing holes of 2 or 3. Drafts is the Nigerian version on a 10×10 board with flying kings and backward captures, not the smaller American checkers board.
Is Truth or Dare safe to play with someone new?
You choose how far it goes. Turning the level up needs both players to agree, turning it down is instant, and you can skip any question. If anyone makes you uncomfortable, leave the game, and block or report them from the chat. See safety.
Are the games free?
Yes. Games are part of WhoDey, which is free to use.
Can I play against the computer?
Yes. Challenge WhoDey from the WhoDey team chat to practise.
Do I need to match with someone first?
You need a chat with them: a mutual like, an accepted message request, or a plan you are both in.
